ALS Ice Bucket Challenge!

I’m sure you’ve all heard about the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, it’s a awesome thing that has been going around for a month now.  If you don’t know what the challenge is I will tell you! There are two purposes to this challenge, one is to raise awarness towards ALS and second is to raise money for ALS.

What is ALS?

ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease) is a progressive neuromuscular disease in which nerve cells die and leave voluntary muscles paralyzed.

Every day two or three Canadians die of the disease.

What To Do For the Ice Bucket Challenge

Things you will need

  1. Ice
  2. Cold Water
  3. Bucket(s)
  4. Camera/Video

All you have to do is get nominated or you can start your own. Once you do that you grab your bucket, fill it with cold water, throw some ice in there and start filming. What do you film you ask? Well I’ll use myself as an example since I did the challenge! My best friend and my boyfriend nominated me so I filmed myself saying thank you to them, I moved on to say my nominate-es, I listed about 5-6 six people but that was because I wanted to get it started at work. I told all of them they had 24 hours, what I did next was pick up the bucket and poured the ice water all of my head. My mum recorded it on my phone and my sister recorded it on my actual camera, that way I put one on Instagram and the other on Facebook.

Now most people are saying pouring ice water on your head isn’t going to do anything to help them out but it really does. Last year they only raised about 1-2 million (that’s what I heard), this year on the Canada website alone they rained 8 million. That’s not including the US and everywhere else in the world! That is a lot of money.

Second thing is does by pouring water on you’re head is make people aware of this horrible thing that people go through. You know before this even happened more then half the world wasn’t even thinking about ALS or probably didn’t even know what it was. That my friends is why this is great, not to mention it’s fun to do.

So please start one with your friends and family and donate.

Because I am Canadian I’m putting the Canadian website down, but do your research and find which one you want to donate too!
