Throw Back Thursday: Doodle Bear

Doodle Bear was a normal toy stuffed animal that came with markers so you could draw on it. The good part was that Doodle Bear was put in the wash and the markers would be gone so you could start drawing on it again!

I actually loved this bear so much, I thought it was pretty cute and cuddle; not to mention I got to draw on it without getting into trouble!

(Fresh and clean!)

Now and days they have a new version of this toy but I think the old ones look better than the new, tell me what you think.

Did you have a Doodle Bear?

Titanic: The Musical

Spoiler Alert! There is details about the musical in this blog, if you plan on seeing the musical in person read at your own risk – spoilers!

My family and friends all know that I’m in love with the movie Titanic. I’ve been to museums, I’ve read numerous of books, I even have a fake heart of the diamond necklace. I know the heart of the diamond isn’t real and it was just put in the movie but I still am really interested in the crash and all the people that were on it.

I was on the Toronto website that had ideas of what people could do for the summer, Titanic The Musical was on the website. Now my mum was the only person who would come with me since I watched the movie a million times when I was younger and ruined it for my sister. We got tickets a couple weeks early so we could get great seats.

We ordered our tickets online, a couple days before they email you all the tips you need to know. They told us when we need to be there, that you can pre-order drinks and snacks for intermission.

We drove to Toronto early and went to the restaurant called Elephant & Castle, it was a British Pub and had really good food. Unfortunately I wasn’t feeling very well so I didn’t eat too much but still the food was good. After we ate we walked down to the theatre, figured out where we need to go to find our seats, went to the washroom before the show (this is a good idea by the way) then we got drinks and pre-ordered drinks and snacks for intermission.

Our seats were great in my opinion, they were on the second balcony of the Princess of Wales Theatre. Our seats were on the end and only the second row. The moment you walk in you can see the set, there is a guy that sits at the table like he is working then the musical starts! The set is amazing, it looks like the deck and the way they use it makes perfect sense.

The two best parts about the set is they had trap doors for the engine room that steam comes out of it and when the boat sinks that set moves to act like it is actually sinking! Honestly for the first time going it was a great musical to see!

I was sad when it finished because it was great and I had an amazing time with my mum, it was a great mother-daughter date!

I did take a picture of the set but I’m not going to post it since I’ve already given so many details.

Let me know if you saw the Titanic Musical and let me know what you thought of it!

Throw Back Thursday: Fashion Plates

Fashion Plates was just a simple imprint of general people posing wearing different types of clothing that you could mix and match then colour to make your own outfit you designed!

6a00e0098eb61588330162fc3546de970d-800wi

To start you picked the two or three pieces you wanted, put a piece of paper over it then ran the black crayon to get the outline then you start colouring! It’s almost creating your own colouring book which why it makes it so fun.

Every kid would waste a lot of paper playing with Fashion Plates but they were a lot of fun that probably made a lot of girls and boys go into fashion. The only problem was there was only so many plates so you would run out of ideas for a new outfit!

You can still get this toy now and days but I’m assuming would be much better with a lot more pieces!

Let me know if you had Fashion Plates and if you made great outfits!

How to Wash Your Bathing Suits!

How many of you have ruined a bathing suit somehow but you don’t know why it got ruined so fast? Yep, me too. It wasn’t until I started working in a pool that I finally figured out how to take care and wash my swim suits. Bathing suits can be really expensive and you want them to last as long as they can.

I’ve done some research and from my own knowledge I’m going to tell you how to take care of all types of swim suits. Here are the steps,

  1. Do not use a washing machine!
  2. Rinse the bathing suit in cold water immediately after using it. You do this because salt water, chlorine, body oils, sunscreen, dirt and sand can damage the elasticity of the suit causing “saggy bum” or “droopy drawers.”
  3. “Washing” really means to soak the bathing suit in cold water with a light soap for 15 minutes.
  4. Gently massage with your hands, rinse out the soap until the water runs clear.
  5. You never want to wring or twist the bathing suit, rather you want to lay it flat between two towels, roll them up and gently press so the towels absorb the water.
  6. After lay is flat to dry, hanging it up to dry will make it lose its elasticity or stretch out the fabric.
  7. Lastly having more than one bathing suit will help them all last longer.

I hope this helps everyone save their swim suits for the summer time! Remember always use sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun!

Throw Back Thursday: Furbys

” A Furby is an American electronic robotic toy released in 1998 by Tiger Electronics.” Says Wikipedia Furby page.

download

Furbys were the toy to have but no one really knew how to use them. They would sleep but you couldn’t wake them up or you couldn’t feed them because you they wanted to sleep.

Furbys ears moved, eyes blinked, the mouth and tongue moved as they talked. I did not know this but Furbys have their our language called Furbish, some samples are:

“Doo” means “What?”
“Doo-Dah” means ” Yes.”
“Boo” means “No.”
“Yoo” means “Why will you not play with me today?”
“Wee-tah-kah-loo-loo” means “Tell me a joke.”
“U-nye-way-loh-nee-way” means “Go to sleep now.”
“U-nye-loo-lay-doo” means “Do you want to play?”

You can look up some more phrases at their Wikipedia page.

These toys were pretty cool but like I said I had no idea how to use it properly. I actually still have my old one, I should put new batteries in and reset it to see if I can figure it out! I mean I feel like they would be really annoying now that I’m adult but it’s worth a try!

Furbys also came in all different colours so let me know what colour you or you child had or has!

I got a Visa!

Now this isn’t the most exciting news but it’s something I’ve been meaning to get. Most people when they hear the word ‘visa’ they think a travel visa but in Canada we have a credit card called Visa.

It was a simple and easy process for me, I already have other accounts with this bank and I got auto-approved. It takes 5-10 business days in order to reach me and I’m looking forward to it.

Now and days you pretty much need a credit card and I need to start building up a credit score so I can buy a car or a house with my boyfriend. I’m excited that I’ve done this step because it’s on my list of stuff that I need to get done in order to move on up in the world.

Just a quick post in order to keep up with my 2015 list!

May Favourites 2015!

Makeup Favourite:

Lancome Bi-Facil-Double Action Eye Makeup Remover

When I sent out that Facebook post asking all my lady friends what’s the best makeup remover my mum saw it and that’s when she gave me the Clinque sample in my March Favourites. Well my Mum’s best friend saw the post as well and gave my Mum her sample bottle for me to try. The Lancome Bi-Facil makeup remover is one of my favourites (tied with the Clinque one). They are honestly both great products. I find the Lancome makeup remover hurts my eyes a bit but it gets more of the makeup off, it has also lasted a little bit longer than other but not by much. You can get this product in a lot of stores, Sears, The Bay, Shoppers Drug Mart and of course Sephora for roughly $36.00.

Skin Care Favourite:

CC229

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths

This was the product I had in mind when I was looking for a new face wipe since Target closed down. This product is great, like the entire Cetaphil line is, it really is gentle, refreshing, and doesn’t make your face red when you use it; it also comes in two sizes! They have a small travel pack (10 cloths) that you can put in your purse or beach bag, and they have a big pack (25 cloths) that you would leave at home. The only problem with these is they’re impossible to find! I’ve been using them for about 2-3 weeks now because they’re hard to find but I’m impressed with them. I kept going back to the store to see if they had them but they didn’t, then I went to the travel section and bought 3 travel sizes ones. I absolutely love Cetaphil products! You can get these bad boys at Shoppers Drug Mart for $5.00-$7.00.

Hair Care Favourite:

Sephora-Ombre-Ribbon-Hair-Ties-in-AmethystSephora Ribbon Hair Ties

Every girl tries to find that one hair tie that doesn’t leave that dreadful lump on the back of their hair. Well I think we have found it ladies (and gents). I bought one just to try it out and I fell in love with it. They last a long time and don’t fade in colour or get stretched out fast. You can get an 8 pack in different colours at Sephora for $11.50.

Body Favourite:

St.Ives Daily Hydrating Vitamin E Body Lotion

I was looking online to see what would help with chlorine burn, vitamin C helps get rid of it but vitamin E helps restore your skin. I love St.Ives body wash so I got this lotion. This works so well, my chlorine burn was gone and my skin felt great. I got this at Shoppers Drug Mart for $4.00-$5.00.

The Real Simple Guide To Real Life: Adulthood made easy.

I saw this book advertised on The Real Simple Instagram and thought it was an interesting idea. So I went on a mission to a Chapters that would have it, this book is a great idea! I learnt more about life reading this book than I ever did in high school! It teaches you about spending money, credit cards, insurance, and so much more. You can get this at Chapters for roughly $30.00.

Agenda from Chapters

I know this seems like a “what the heck” moment but my agenda is a life savers! I never used it in school but with adulthood you kind of need one. I know you can put everything in your phone but I’m the type of person who likes to have it all laid out in front of me, just makes things easier! You can get your agenda at Chapters for roughtly $12.00-$22.00.
